Lincoln City boss hints at imminent signings – but is remaining cautious

Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo, Lincoln City manager Michael Appleton has revealed he is hopeful that the Imps can complete some business in the early stages of the January transfer window, saying that the club are waiting on “two very key bits of information”.

Lincoln City have already completed one signing heading into the January transfer window, signing former West Brom midfielder Zach Elboudezi from Irish side Waterford. However, with Elboudezi joining on January 1st, he may not be the only player heading to Sincil Bank in the early stages of the window.

Imps boss Michael Appleton has revealed Lincoln are potentially close to completing more deals ahead of the window, revealing they are awaiting one some key information on two transfer targets over the course of the next day or two. Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo after Lincoln’s Boxing Day loss to Oxford United, Appleton said:

“Potentially,” Appleton replied when asked if any signings were close with the start of the January transfer window now just a matter of days away.

“Although, nothing can happen until the first of January. We’re waiting on two very key bits of information on players over the next 24-48 hours. We’ll just keep our fingers crossed that the work we’ve put in is enough to get them over the line.”

“I think the meetings we’ve had have been positive, but you never know until it’s done and dusted. I’m not one to get too excited until I’ve got the player in the building. I think we need a couple of new faces.”

Appleton is keen to add some new faces to his squad this winter to bolster the Lincoln squad and put his own stamp on the squad after taking over from Danny Cowley earlier this season. The Imps currently sit in 17th place in League One after 21 games, six points clear of the relegation zone and 11 points away from the top six,
