Ahead of the January transfer window, clubs up and down the Football League ladder are well underway in their preparations for the month ahead, as they look to bolster their squad before embarking on the second half of the campaign.

And, Championship side Blackburn Rovers are among the sides reportedly casting their eye to the European market. The Lancashire club are said to have scouts in attendance of a Portuguese Liga NOS tie between league leaders Benfica and 4th placed surprise package Famalicao when they faced off at the weekend.

It was Benfica who came out on top on Saturday evening, winning 4-0 thanks to goals from Carlos Vinicius, Caio and a brace from captain Pizzi. Alongside Rovers were a number of top sides, with Premier League club Manchester United and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid both reported to be watching over the game, with second-tier Spanish club Sporting Gijon also in attendance.

Heading into the January transfer window, Blackburn Rovers are likely to bolster a number of areas in their squad. We covered reports here on The72 stating that Rovers are keen to add a new goalkeeper, centre-back and left-back to Tony Mowbray’s ranks in the January transfer window, as they look to continue their rise up the Championship table and push for a place in the Play-Offs.
