Swindon Town in talks to keep prolific duo at the club

Swindon Town are hopeful of keeping loanees Eoin Doyle and Jerry Yates for the full campaign.

The duo are on loan from Bradford City and Rotherham United respectively and have been in fine form the League Two table toppers.

Doyle, who is 31 years-old, has scored 19 goals in all competitions so far this season and wants to stay at the County Ground for the rest of the campaign, despite whispers of a potential recall by Bradford.

Yates is also wanting to remain with the Robins and has chipped in with 11 goals. He is highly-rated by parent club Rotherham and played for them in the Championship last term.

Swindon boss Richie Wellens has confirmed his side are in talks with both players about staying, as per a report by the Swindon Advertiser: “We are in contact on a regular basis with all the parent clubs but, at the moment, it is December and we can’t do anything. All the players that I have spoken to all want to stay, which is the main thing.”

He also praised his two prized loanees: “When you are a coach and trying to improve people, they have to really take it on board. I worked with players last season where I looked at them and never truly believed they wanted to improve and they wanted to take on board and carry out what I wanted them to do.

“It is beneficial for them but it is also beneficial for the team if they do listen. Every credit to both Eoin and Jerry.”
