Sheffield Wednesday defender says his future at the club is ‘out of his hands’

Sheffield Wednesday’s Morgan Fox has spoken out after being linked with a move away from the Owls in January.

Table topping West Bromwich Albion and fellow promotion chasers Nottingham Forest are both reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old  who had fought his way back into the regular starting XI.

Other clubs such as Huddersfield Town, Derby County and Blackburn Rovers are also thought to be vying for his signature and with January looming Fox, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has admitted to the Sheffield Star that he is uncertain about his future at Hillsborough.

He said: “I have only got until the end of the season late and it is out of my hands really.

“I am happy here and as long as I am in the team playing football, then I am going to be. But I always give my most, that’s all I can do.”

League One Sunderland are thought to have made a summer bid for Fox, who signed for the Owls from Charlton in 2017.

However, Lee Bullen, who was in caretaker charge at the time, rejected the bid and showed his support for Fox following a turbulent spell which saw him get booed by his own fans.

Speaking at the time, Fox said: “I was aware of it. In terms of me and the way I work, I just get on with it and get on with my job.

“I spoke to Bully about it, but I have always been committed about doing my job here.

“Whenever I put on a shirt for Wednesday, I always give my most. I am enjoying my football and am back in the team now.”
