Stoke City starlet wanted by Europa League side

A report from the Daily Record has claimed that Scottish Premiership side Celtic are eyeing up a January transfer window swoop for Stoke City’s young striker Tyrese Campbell.

Celtic are hoping to unearth some “diamonds in the rough” in the January transfer window as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season, and a report from the Daily Record has claimed that they are keeping a close eye on Stoke City youngster Tyrese Campbell as a potential striker target heading into January.

Campbell is a highly rated youngster at Stoke City but since the arrival of Michael O’Neill as manager, his opportunities in the club’s first-team have been limited somewhat. Campbell is heading into the last six months of his contract with the club and a number of clubs are said to be interested in a move for Campbell, with the chance of picking him up on a cut-price deal.

The Daily Record claims that Campbell could be picked up for just £350,000 in a cross-border compensation deal. If Celtic were to pounce on a deal for the youngster, it would see Stoke make a big loss on the fee they paid to bring him in from Manchester City, when they paid £1.75 million to sign him in 2016.

Campbell has played 26 times for the club’s senior side since making his way into the first-team picture under Paul Lambert, scoring three times and providing one assist in the process. He maintains a strong goalscoring record for the club’s Under-23s, scoring 26 in 47 games for the club’s second-string side.
