Lincoln City snap up ex-West Brom and Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder

Lincoln City have signed midfielder Zack Elbouzedi from Waterford.

The 21-year-old has penned a long-term contract with the Imps, as announced by their official club website this afternoon.

Elbouzedi, who is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, scored six times for Waterford in their 2019 League of Ireland Premier Division season.

He started his career at Malahide United before moving to England in 2015 for a two year spell at West Bromwich Albion.

The promising midfielder then moved up to Scotland for a year at Inverness Caledonian Thistle before moving back to Ireland in November last year after a brief loan stint at Elgin City.

Elbouzedi has spoken to Lincoln’s website after his move to Michael Appleton’s side: “I was at West Brom and it’s tough to break through there. I ended up going back home to Ireland. It was always the goal to come back and test myself, but it had to be the right club and I feel like Lincoln is the right club for me to progress in my career.”

“I spoke to a couple of people at West Brom about Michael (Appleton) and they said he’s a great coach and will help me progress as a player. He’s young and hungry as well, and hopefully we can both keep progressing. I spoke to other people in the football world and they had nothing but good words to say about him.”

The Irishman will complete his move to Sincil Bank subject to international clearance on 1st January.
