Newport County want move for Bristol City striker

Newport County are interested in re-signing Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo.

The League Two had him on loan last season and could make another loan move for him in the upcoming January transfer window, according to a report by Bristol Live.

Semenyo, who is 19 years-old, made 32 appearances for the Exiles in the last campaign in all competitions and scored six goals.

He returned to Ashton Gate over the summer and has since been involved with their first team. He has played nine times so far this term for the Championship side.

However, the Robins are open to loaning him out next month for more first team experience. Newport are an option after proving to be a good home for him, however, Lee Johnson’s side are looking to loan him out to a club as high up the football pyramid as possible.

Johnson has said, as per a report by Bristol Live: “Yeah, yeah. It’s not rocket science. You’re playing regular in the squad, you’re not going anywhere, unless it’s for megabucks. If you’re not in the squad and you haven’t been making benches and stuff like that, then everyone wants to play football even if players have got Bristol City tattooed on their arm. They still want to be playing football.”

Semenyo is a bright young talent and would benefit from going out and playing some regular football. Whether that is back at Newport is yet to be seen.
