Graham Westley has returned to Stevenage for a fourth time.

The 51-year-old will officially re-take charge of the League Two side next Monday, as announced by their official club website.

The experienced boss has taken over from Mark Sampson, who will return to his position as first team coach.

Westley, who has guided the Boro to two promotions and an FA Trophy in the past, has also previously managed the likes of Preston North End, Peterborough United, Newport County and Barnet.

He faces a tough job at Broadhall Way this time around with the club sitting 23rd in the league, a point above bottom of the table Morecambe after just two wins from their opening 20 games.

Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace has spoken about Westley’s return to the club to their website: “Graham got us into the football league almost 10 years ago and I can’t think of anyone better equipped to reinvigorate the team and start winning matches.”

“Graham knows the club inside out, we know each other inside out and he is desperate to put his career back on track. We need a manager with extensive experience, someone motivated to win and someone who knows how to win in this league. We started this season 4 months ago thinking we would be promotion candidates and the season so far has been a rude awakening for us all.”

He added: “Given our current league position, this is not the time for us to experiment with managers. I need someone I trust and I trust Graham.”
