Leeds United and Nottingham Forest ‘target’ set for Premier League move

A report from 90min has claimed that Coventry City defender Sam McCallum – who was linked with Championship pair Leeds United and Nottingham Forest last month – is set to make a move to Premier League table-toppers Liverpool in January.

Over the course of the first half of the season, Coventry City’s young left-back Sam McCallum has been linked with a number of sides after his impressive performances for the Sky Blues in League One.

A number of Premier League sides have been linked with a move for McCallum, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Leicester City all said to have been in the chase for the 19-year-old. Championship pair Leeds United and Nottingham Forest were also linked with a move for McCallum, but it seems he is destined for a move to the top flight.

90min has claimed that Liverpool are set to win the battle for McCallum’s signature in the upcoming transfer window, which is now just a matter of weeks away.

McCallum made his breakthrough into Mark Robins’ first-team plans last season, making eight appearances in the 2018/19 campaign. This season, he has become a regular in Robins’ side. McCallum has played 19 times across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist along the way.

The left-back joined Coventry City in the summer transfer window of 2018, signing from non-league outfit Herne Bay. He initially spent time in the club’s youth set-up but has broken into the first-team and has not looked back since.

It will be interesting to see if it is Liverpool who win the race for McCallum winter, or if he remains with the Sky Blues until at least the end of the season.
