Birmingham City and Middlesbrough considering swoop for Rangers man

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Championship duo Birmingham City and Middlesbrough are both interested in Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Heading into the January transfer window, Middlesbrough goalkeeper Daren Randolph has been attracting interest from Premier League side West Ham, who are keen to provide a stronger cover option for currently injured star man Lukasz Fabianski.

Now, it has been reported that amid the Premier League interest in Randolph, Boro are considering a January transfer window move for Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham. Foderingham’s contract at Ibrox expires at the end of the season and Boro and Birmingham City are reportedly interested in a deal for the Rangers man.

At Ibrox, Foderingham is mainly used as Steven Gerrard’s backup at Ibrox, with Allan McGregor the starting ‘keeper for the Scottish Premiership side. He has made two appearances for the club in the league so far, also playing once in the Europa League qualifying stages and once in the Scottish League Cup, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

In his four and a half years with Rangers, Foderingham has played 142 times, conceding 144 goals and keeping 55 clean sheets in the process. Prior to joining Rangers in the summer of 2015, Foderingham spent just under four years playing in the Football League for Swindon Town, featuring 191 times for the club.

It will be interesting to see if Rangers allow Foderingham to leave the club this winter, with Middlesbrough and Birmingham City said keen.
