Stoke loan move for winger rejected by Scottish side

Stoke City have been thwarted in their plans to bring a Scottish international to the bet365 Stadium.

In a bid to strengthen his team, O’Neill was keen to Celtic’s Lewis Morgan to the Potteries for the second half of the season as the club tries to avoid what would be an embarrassing relegation to League One.

However, according to the Daily Record, the SPL champions have rejected any notion of Morgan leaving to join Stoke on loan for the second half of the season.

The Hoops’ director of football has made it clear that Morgan is not available for loan – despite him having previously gone out to the likes of Sunderland and St Mirren on a temporary basis.

Morgan, who has recently been a part of Neil Lennon’s starting XI, is also thought to be keen to try and nail down a regular place in Celtic’s starting line up after scoring in the Europa League and playing in the win over Rangers in the BetFred Cup.

He only joined Celtic last year from St Mirren and while he initially struggled to make his mark he is now hoping to become a permanent part of boss Lennon’s plans for the future.
