Stoke City are being linked with a loan move for Leicester City’s Daniel Amartey.

The versatile Ghanaian international has emerged as a potential January target for the Championship strugglers, as per a report by Stoke On Trent Live.

Amartey, who is 24 years-old, is expected to leave the Foxes next month having fallen way down the pecking order at Brendan Rodgers’ side. He has not featured for the Premier League outfit this season and still has two years left on his contract at the King Power Stadium.

He can play at right-back or in midfield which will make an attractive proposition to clubs in the second tier this winter. Fulham have been linked with him in the past.

However, Stoke are hoping to bring him to the Bet365 Stadium to help in their push for survival under Michael O’Neill.

Amartey moved to England in for a fee in the region of £6 million in 2016 from FC Copenhagen. He helped Leicester win the top flight title in his first season at the club and played in Europe for them the campaign after.

He soon fell out of favour with the Foxes though and has seen his game time limited over the past couple of seasons.

Amartey would be a shrewd signing for Stoke next month and his versatility would come in handy. They will have to see off interest from other clubs to loan him though.
