Leeds United boss gives ‘green light’ amid transfer speculation surrounding Reading midfielder

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has given the ‘green light’ amid transfer speculation surrounding Reading midfielder Andy Rinomhota according to Football Insider.

The 22-year-old has reportedly impressed the Argentine following his showing when he starred against them last month in a 1-0 Leeds victory.

There were rumours regarding the Whites having interest in the central midfielder but this has intensified with Bielsa’s apparent seal of approval on the transfer.

The Yorkshire giants are looking to add cover for Kalvin Phillips in the defensive midfield position and Rinomhota could fit the bill if they look to pursue him.

Due to the suspension of Phillips against Huddersfield Town, Bielsa opted to move central defender Ben White forward into this position but there is no other player who as adept at the role as Phillips.

The Elland Road club are well on course to achieve promotion this season but should they fail to do so they are aware that they could lose Phillips to a top flight club due to a release clause that can be activated for a £20million-plus fee.

Although Phillips has recently signed a new five-year-deal this doesn’t completely rule out a move for the star midfielder.

Leeds-born Rinomhota joined Reading in 2015 and worked his way up the club’s ranks before establishing himself in their first team and has made 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season for the Royals.

Rinomhota’s contract with Reading runs until 2022 so they are under no real pressure to sell him unless a substantial offer is made for his services.
