Sky Sports pundit predicts outcome of Birmingham City and West Brom clash

West Bromwich Albion take on local rivals Birmingham City on Saturday lunchtime at St. Andrews in which is bound to be a fiercely anticipated game and Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has given his verdict on the match.

Albion lost top spot to Leeds United in midweek following their disappointing draw with Wigan Athletic whilst Blues endured a frustrating performance at home to QPR in which they lost 2-0.

Birmingham have endured mixed form under the stewardship of recently appointed permanent head coach Pep Clotet and will be hoping to get back to winning ways against their near neighbours.

Blues are currently 15th in the Championship table with them being unable to string together a positive set of results emphasised by their impressive victory away at Reading and then their defeat to QPR.

However, if they are to get anything out of this game against the high-flying Baggies they will need to be on top of their game and hope West Brom are out of sorts.

Despite a frustrating draw against relegation threatened Wigan, prior to that game they had won six successive games and are looking well on course for a return to the Premier League.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton said: “It’s been a strange week for Birmingham. They were good at the weekend against Reading, then really poor as they lost to QPR on Wednesday.”

“The inconsistency will frustrate Pep Clotet. West Brom were held at Wigan this week. They looked really flat as their winning run came to an end.”

This is sure to be a tight encounter as most derby games tend to be but if West Brom play at their ultimate best it is difficult to see Blues getting anything from this match.
