Gillingham 2-0 Yeovil: Match Review and Player Ratings

This was the second meeting between the two sides in the past five days, having played each other in the capital one cup,  and the result went to the same side again; Gillingham

The game started brightly for the away side who pressed high up the pitch and put The Gills under pressure from wide areas. The first real event of the game was when Josh Hare was seemingly knocked out by a cross from Smith, cutting his home debut short on the 11th minute. Yeovil’s pressure counted on the 17th minute, when a clumsy Leon Legge challenge brought down Nugent and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Moore stepped up and his woeful day in front of goal started, as his tame penalty was saved by on loan goalkeeper Bywater. The momentum switched Gillingham’s way and a free kick on the 35th minute was dispatched into the top corner from Joe martin. An eventful half was followed up by quite a boring second half, as neither side really made the keepers work enough, and as Matt Fish was fouled on the 55th minute, the game was over as Danny Kedwell stepped up to score from the rebound from his penalty after a good save from Weale. A solid performance from Gillingham but Yeovil will feel hard done by, as a draw was probably the fair result. A Brilliant free kick and a penalty separated the sides.
