Tottenham Hotspur are set to terminate the loan deal of Doncaster Rovers striker Kazaiah Sterling following an unsuccessful spell with the League One side.

As reported by Football Insider, Spurs are looking to recall the striker who has failed to nail down a spot in the starting XI for Darren Moore’s side.

Doncaster have reportedly agreed with the Premier League side to cut short the deal in January with Sterling set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sterling has made just four appearances in all competitions for Doncaster and three of those were as a substitute and with Tottenham looking for him gain regular first team football, this simply hasn’t happened at Rovers.

The England youth international scored his only goal in the EFL Trophy against Lincoln City but hasn’t featured since September and is now set to leave the Keepmoat Stadium.

Darren Moore is still looking to add reinforcements in January but is eyeing up players who can make a difference to their starting XI and Sterling seems surplus to requirements in this respect.

Sterling spent the second half of last season on loan Sunderland, where he scored one goal in eight substitute appearances but with Jose Mourinho unlikely to utilise him in their first-team he could be set to go out on loan elsewhere.

His contract at Spurs expires in 2021 so there is no pressure on him leaving the club but another loan spell seems the most likely option with the calibre of players at Mourinho’s disposal.
