Former England international admits to being ‘baffled’ by form of Leeds United defender

Former England international Darren Bent admits to being ‘baffled’ by the form of Leeds United defender Ezgjan Alioski according to an interview with Football Insider.

Bent feels that Alioski’s form is often ‘hot and cold’ and ‘unpredictable’ but whilst the former Tottenham Hotspur striker admitted to being unsure on the defender he can see that Marco Bielsa believes he brings ‘something to the side’.

Alioski has been a regular performer this season for the Whites and scored the opening goal against Huddersfield Town on Saturday lunchtime.

Bent gave his views on Alioski and his performances and said: “He is unpredictable and you never quite know what you’re going to get from him.”

“He does a job and Bielsa obviously likes him as he seems to play him more often than not. Sometimes he plays well and sometimes he has a bit of a ropey one. When the manager believes in you like Bielsa, you won’t want to let him down.”

Despite being a defender, Alioski has scored one goal and registered three assists in 17 matches in all competitions so far this campaign.

The 27-year-old has consistently played well for Bielsa and offers somewhat of an attacking threat despite his natural defensive position.

He has also made over 100 appearances for the Whites further emphasising the faith each manager has had him in since his arrival at Elland Road and with the Championship being a long, hard season, Bielsa will need his most reliable players at his disposal for the rest of the campaign.
