Premier League boss gives Leeds United early Christmas present

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has confirmed that on-loan defender Ben White will remain at Leeds United until the end of the season despite interest from a number of Premier League sides.

White has thoroughly impressed since joining the Yorkshire side on loan, helping Leeds to second in the Sky Bet Championship table.

The Whites currently have an eight point lead over third place, and are odds on to achieve promotion back to the Premier League this season.

This is Ben White’s first season at this level. He has previously played in the lower leagues with Peterborough United and Newport County, but he has been incredible in the second tier and his performances have led to a number of Premier League sides, including table toppers Liverpool, being interest in securing the signature of the 22-year-old.

Because of the interest, many Leeds United fans thought that they would lose White in January, as Brighton may want to cash in on their prize asset.

However, Graham Potter has said that White will stay at Elland Road until at least the end of the season.

As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Potter said: “There is all sorts of talk, as we know. But the reality of it is he is our player and he has got a future with us and we are looking forward to having him back at the right time and go from there. He is a player we like a lot.”

“If you see how he plays, the attributes he has fit us. He is at Leeds now. He is on loan. You let that run and settle down at the end of the season. He is at Leeds and doing a good job there.”
