Derby County keeping an eye on Dutch attacking starlet

According to a report from Turkish news outlet Fotospor (as cited by Sport Witness), Derby County are watching over 20-year-old Dutch starlet Ferdi Kadioglu ahead of the January transfer window.

Ahead of the January transfer window, reports from Turkey have claimed that Fenerbahce youngster Ferdi Kadioglu is being watched over by Championship outfit Philip Cocu. The Rams are said to be keeping a close eye on his situation with the Turkish Super Lig outfit with the second window of Cocu’s reign at Pride Park just around the corner.

Cocu has already signed Kadioglu once in his career, bringing him to Fenerbahce in 2018 when he was manager of the Turkish giants and it has been reported that he is considering signing the 20-year-old once again. It is said that Cocu was a bit reason behind why Kadioglu swapped Dutch side NEC Nijmegen for Fenerbahce.

Kadioglu, 20, can play as an attacking midfielder and out wide on either the right or left-hand side. He is yet to start a league game for Fenerbahce so far this season, making six substitute appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist in the process. He has also played one match in the Turkish domestic cup, scoring once and laying on one assist. Kadioglu spent the majority of last season with the club’s Under-21s side whilst also contesting with injury problems.

He came through the NEC Nijmegen Academy and went on to play 70 times for their senior team, scoring 16 goals and providing 12 assists along the way. He has played for the Netherlands national team at multiple youth levels, featuring for the Under-16s, Under-17s, Under-18s, Under-19s and Under-21s a combined total of 42 times, netting nine goals and assisting 10 in the process.

It will be interesting to see if these reports emerge into anything serious with the window now just over three weeks away.
