Leeds United set to be blown away by Premier League giants in race for star defender

Leeds United are set to be blown away by Premier League giants in the race to sign star defender Ben White, according to former Whites defender Danny Mills.

As reported by Football Insider, the ex-England defender believes that such have been the impressive performances of on-loan Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back White, that huge top flight clubs will swoop in for the youngster with transfer fees that will ‘blow Leeds away’.

White has started all 20 Championship games for the Elland Road club this campaign and has shone in his first season at this level and Mills claims that he will end up at one of the Premier League elite.

Mills also said that White has been Leeds’ best player so far this season: “Ben White has been outstanding. I didn’t know too much about him when he came into the club. But he’s come in and he’s an outstanding footballer.”

“He can play and he can defend and I think that’s why, sadly for Leeds…they will struggle to keep hold of him. There are very big Premier League sides desperate to snap him up.”

Considering the 22-year-old had never played at this level before he has shone in a Leeds defence which is the best in the division having conceded just ten goals in 20 games.

He had previously plied his trade in League One and League Two with Peterborough United and Newport County respectively but he has settled into Championship life seamlessly.

With speculation that top flight clubs like Liverpool are interested in White and with the funds at their disposal, it seems inconceivable that Leeds will be able to compete for White in the transfer market.
