Middlesbrough against Tottenham selected for live TV coverage

Middlesbrough’s game against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup Third Round at The Riverside has now been selected for TV coverage.

The Championship side will face off against Jose Mourinho’s Spurs side on Sunday 6th January 2020 at 2:01pm, and ticket information will be released soon.

The game has been selected to be shown on television, with the Third Round clash broadcast on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate.

The tie will be a special one for both sets of managers, with Jonathan Woodgate having played for Tottenham between 2008 and 2011, winning the League Cup during his time at White Hart Lane.

Mourinho in the opposition dugout has a connection to Boro, despite it being a slim one. His former Assistant Manager at Real Madrid Aitor Karanka was one of the more successful Middlesbrough managers in recent years, helping the club to get promoted to the Premier League back in 2016.

As well as Woodgate, Middlesbrough’s Assistant Manager Robbie Keane is seen as one of the best strikers of the Premier League era, and spent a huge majority of his time in England with the North London side.

Boro have a decent record against top sides in cup competitions, beating the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Crystal Palace whilst being in the Championship. They will be hoping for another Premier League scalp when they face Tottenham at The Riverside next month.

The game has been selected alongside Liverpool v Everton, and the Gillingham v West Ham tie for TV coverage that day.
