Swansea City move ahead of Leeds United in chase for Liverpool starlet

According to a report from Wales Online, Swansea City have made initial contact with Premier League leaders Liverpool over a possible loan deal for young striker Rhian Brewster.

In the run-up to the January transfer window, Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster has been heavily linked with a loan move away from Anfield as chances for first-team football with the Premier League leaders are limited with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi ahead of him in the pecking order.

A number of sides are reported to have shown interest in bringing Brewster in on loan, with Crystal Palace said keen and Championship pair Swansea City and Leeds United also interested. A Championship loan move is claimed to be favoured by Liverpool due to concerns about the game time he would get at Palace.

Now, reports have emerged saying that Swansea City have made an approach to Liverpool about a possible loan deal, seemingly moving ahead of the likes of Leeds United and some of Brewster’s other suitors in the chase for his signature. Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers are some of the other Championship sides said keen on the starlet, with Aston Villa said to be interested as well.

Brewster already has a good relationship with Steve Cooper, who he previously worked with in the England youth set-up.

Brewster has been tipped for big things since he started to make his way through the Liverpool youth ranks. He has featured for the club’s Under-23s, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists in 28 appearances. The 19-year-old has also played for England’s young lions 32 times, netting 24 goals across the Under-16s, Under-17s, Under-18s and Under-21s.
