Leeds United eye striker replacement but face plenty of competition

Earlier today, the72 reported that Leeds United were set to lose striker Eddie Nketiah in January, as parent club Arsenal want to recall him.

The Gunners are not happy with Nketiah’s game time at Elland Road, and plan to recall him before loaning him back out to a different Sky Bet Championship team in order to get him some game time.

This is not good news for Leeds United, who are already short of striker in their first team squad, but according to the Times, they have their eye on a different Premier League striker.

According to the publication, Leeds United have their eye on Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster, who is expected to leave the Premier League leaders in January in order to get some first team experience.

Leeds have actually made contact with Liverpool according to The Times, but they are not alone in their pursuit of the U17 2017 World Cup winner.

The Times reports that fellow Sky Bet Championship sides Swansea City, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic are all interested in securing a deal to bring Brewster to their club, and have all made contact with Liverpool about a possible signing.

Brewster rose to prominence during the U17 World Cup back in 2017, when England beat Spain 5-2 in the Final.

The 19-year-old was the golden boot winner in the competition, and has been tipped for a huge future because of that.

He has appeared on occassions for Liverpool this season, but both him and Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp agree that a loan deal is the best move for his career at this stage.
