Leeds United set to lose striker in January

Leeds United look set to lose on-loan Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah in January, with a report from the Daily Mail suggesting the North London club will recall the 20-year-old.

The Gunners are reportedly unhappy with Nketiah’s lack of game time at Elland Road, with the young striker starting just two games this season.

Speaking about Nketiah’s situation, Arsenal interim manager Freddie Ljunberg said: “I need to be careful what I say but I think Eddie is a great player. If he goes on loan we want him to play football and get minutes otherwise they can maybe be here.”

“I feel a bit sorry for him because he is a great player and the future of this club. When he has had his chance he scores goals and that’s what he is about.”

Reports out of the North London club suggest that Nketiah will be recalled before being sent back out on loan, with a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs, including Bristol City, reportedly interested in bringing the youngster on loan.

The Robins were interested in Nketiah back in the summer but lost out to Leeds United, but look set to be given a chance to finally get their man.

The 20-year-old striker has been in good form when given the chance by Marcelo Bielsa, but he has played second string to Patrick Bamford, who has very much been Bielsa’s first choice.

Nketiah’s departure will mean that Leeds need to dip into the transfer market to bring in a striker in January,
