Shrewsbury Town snap up ex-Kidderminster Harriers and Oldham Athletic midfielder

Shrewsbury Town have signed midfielder Ousmane Fane on a free transfer.

The League One side have brought in the former Kidderminster Harriers and Oldham Athletic midfielder on a one-year deal, as announced their official club website.

The 25-year-old had spells in his native country with spells at Bayonne, Paris FC, Racing Paris and GSI Pontivy before moving to England to join Kidderminster in 2016 after a brief detour in Norway at FK Lyn.

Fane spent a year with the Harriers before he signed for Oldham. He then went on to make 91 appearances for the North-West side.

After bringing him to New Meadow, Shrewsbury boss Sam Ricketts has said, as per their website: “He was at Oldham and Kidderminster before. He’s a free-agent, so he can come straight into the squad now. He’s someone we have taken an opportunity on.”

“We will see how he is after his injury and take it from there really. He has played a lot of games and he’s a real athletic midfielder. He can run all day and brings something different to the team. The best thing is, we don’t have to wait until January, he can come straight in. He’s a very disruptive midfielder and will stop the opposition playing.”

He added: “He can get around the pitch well and he’s someone who not many players will relish playing against. You always want competition for places, he comes in and adds to that. Players who are playing well will have to keep playing well. We have players itching to play and that pushes everyone.”
