Former Celtic man believes Leeds United can cause huge upset in FA Cup tie with Premier League giants

Former Celtic man Chris Sutton believes that Leeds United can cause a huge upset in their FA Cup tie with Premier League giants Arsenal according to an interview with BBC Radio 5Live.

Following the draw for the third round of the Emirates FA Cup Third Round we were left with a host of mouth-watering clashes, none more so than the Whites taking on the Gunners.

The two sides haven’t faced each other since 2012 and with Leeds currently in fine form in the Championship under manager Marco Bielsa and Arsenal in disarray on the pitch under interim boss Freddie Ljungberg following the sacking of Unai Emery, this could be a very interesting match up.

Bielsa and Leeds will be confident of causing Arsenal problems particularly defensively where they have struggled and Sutton agrees, even suggesting that Leeds United would win the match if it were played as soon as this week.

Sutton said on the tie: ”I think Arsenal against Leeds is fascinating. If it was to be played this week, I would actually fancy Leeds to beat Arsenal.”

“Leeds are in phenomenal form. Arsenal look same old Arsenal, decidedly shaky at the back, and that’s a huge game.”

Sutton certainly has a point in his views and prediction surrounding the game. Leeds have won five straight games in the league and look imperious at present whilst Arsenal are really struggling and are winless in eight games in all competitions.

Although Leeds’ primary focus will be on the league as they look to achieve promotion, they could see this game as a huge challenge and an opportunity to claim a real scalp.
