Speaking to the Daily Record, Aberdeen manager has admitted that star striker Sam Cosgrove could be sold in January, with Championship trio Derby County, Stoke City and Middlesbrough among those reportedly interested.

Over the course of the first few months of the 2019/2020 season, Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove has been in electric form. The in-form forward has netted an impressive 18 goals in 22 games across all competitions, starring for Derek McInnes’ side.

Amid his strong form, interest from a number of sides South of the border has been reported. As covered here on The72, it has been claimed that Championship sides Derby County, Stoke City and Middlesbrough are all keen on Cosgrove and could make a move for him in the January transfer window.

Now, speaking to the Daily Record, McInnes has admitted that Cosgrove could be sold in the January transfer window, but insisted that they will not be letting him leave the club on the cheap. McInnes said:

“It’s no surprise if clubs like him but there has been no contact and no valuation put on Sam. There has been no conversation with any Championship club. If a bid gets put in for any of our players it’s up to our board to consider but from my conversations with the board we all know how important Sam is to us.

“If the right offer comes in for any of our players, they will be sold. But we want to make sure the right offers come in. We can’t do anything about that – all we can do is if the offer comes in be in a strong position to say yes or no.”
