West Brom returned to the top of the Sky Bet Championship last night (December 2) with a late penalty securing all three points against promotion rivals Preston North End.
Charlie Austin stepped up in the 90th minute after Preston keeper Declan Rudd was adjudged to have fouled Baggies sub Kyle Edwards.
Austin calmly sent Rudd the wrong way and sent the visiting fans into raptures, and his team back to the top of the table.
It was a third straight defeat for Preston North End, who remain sixth and in the final Play-Off place.
West Brom fans took to Twitter after the game to share their feeling on the club’s return to the top of the league. Here is a look at what some of them had to say:

Many football (Leeds and Preston) fans had claimed that West Brom were lucky to get the penalty decision, and this West Brom fan is honest enough to admit that she does not feel it was a penalty.
This West Brom fan is clearly very happy with the victory.
Goalkeepers don’t often get the credit that they deserve, but Sam Johnstone gets the plaudits from this supporter for his performance last night.
A win away to promotion rivals is a big statement, and the three points are all that matters right now to West Brom.
Good performance last night against #pnefc. Passing was incredible and we made it look easy. No surprise against a team with injuries galore. Strong defensive performance from them. Very soft penalty but arguably they could have got a red first half. #WBAFC

This supporter was happy with last night’s performance against Preston, and although he feels the penalty was controversial, decisions even themselves out over the course of a match.
