Leeds United moved to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table with a comfortable home victory over Middlesbrough at Elland Road.
Patrick Bamford opened the scoring against his former club, before two Mateusz Klich goals were added to by Helder Costa to secure a rampant victory for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Talking about the victory, Marcelo Bielsa was more than happy to move to the top of the league.
As quoted by BBC Sport, the Argentine said: “It is important to be top now but there is a long way forward. Of course, we have to give some value to the current position because in a league like this, the future is built match by match.”
“But the most important is the regularity in every match to make a difference. You have to analyse how you win every match.”
Middlesbrough manager Jonathon Woodgate did not enjoy his return to Elland Road, and was quick to acknowledge how desperate the club are for the January transfer window.
He said: “Without a shadow of a doubt we need more players in January. The chairman knows that we need more players. It is blatant for all to see that we need reinforcements.”
“Anything you get from coming to Elland Road is a bonus. We need to beat the teams around us. It’s my job to pick them up and one thing I can take from the game is that they never gave up, they never chucked the towel in. That’s a positive for me.”
