Bristol City moved up the fifth place in the Sky Bet Championship table with a comprehensive victory at home against Huddersfield Town.

Defeat leaves Huddersfield Town 19th in the table, just two points above the relegation zone.

It was the perfect response for Bristol City, who were beaten 4-1 midweek by West Bromwich Albion.

Speaking about the result, Robins’ manager Lee Johnson was thrilled with his side’s performance.

As quoted by BBC Sport, he said: “The boys were fantastic. It has been a tough week for us for a number of reasons and I thought we were outstanding to a man. We were very bright and a lot of stuff we’ve been working on really came to fruition today.”

“We felt a result like this was coming so that was why the West Brom result was so disappointing. To have the moment of quality and sheer brilliance we had was very pleasing. We’ve got to keep going now. If we get a punch on the nose we’ve got to learn our lessons, as we did on Wednesday, and bounce back really quickly.”

Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley described his shame in the result. He said: “I actually felt ashamed when I went over to applaud our fans at the end. We are pampered and flew down yesterday when they were working to earn the money to come and watch us.”

“Now they face a long journey home and I feel for them because they stuck behind the players throughout the game and were a credit to our club.”
