Everton being urged to swoop for Leeds United boss to replace Marco Silva

Everton are being urged to swoop for Leeds United boss Marco Bielsa to replace Marco Silva by former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan according to an interview with TalkSport.

The Toffees have been in dreadful form so far this campaign and there is mounting speculation that Silva could be sacked and Jordan has claimed that a ‘top manager’ like Bielsa would be a great fit in the Premier League.

Everton are 17th in the top flight and hovering just above the relegation places following another league defeat to Leicester City.

Should their dismal form continue, there is an increasing likelihood that Silva will be relieved of his duties and they could opt for the Argentine as a possible replacement.

Jordan thinks that an enthusiastic manager from the Championship may be the best route for Everton. “You need to find the type of manager who is going to invigorate the squad, invigorate the board room and invigorate the fans,” Jordan said on Sunday’s Final Word.

“There is no reason why Everton shouldn’t be able to attract an elite manager to come to the club. When you talk about Marcelo Bielsa managing Leeds, why wouldn’t he be managing a team like Everton?”

“That’s the sort of appointment in terms of quality of thinking that would ultimately take Everton forward. It’s all about getting the next decision right because Everton are forever treading water.

“When you look at this Everton side, there’s a better tune that should be had from them. I’m not an admirer of Marco Silva. I think he’s somebody who has a reputation that doesn’t appear to be based on a lot.”

Jordan could be making a real point in his observation of the quality of Bielsa. Despite Leeds missing out on promotion last season, he is seen as a manager of real quality and should Everton be on the lookout for a new man at the helm, they could do a lot worse than the Argentine.
