Neil Warnock’s time in the Championship may not be over just yet.
The experienced boss is being linked with a move to Middlesbrough, according to a report by the Daily Mail.
Boro could be set to sack Jonathan Woodgate after their 4-0 hammering by Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.
They are currently 20th in the Championship table and a point above the relegation zone after a dreadful start to the season under their rookie boss.
Warnock left Cardiff City last month after three years with the Welsh side and is now in line for one last hurrah in the second tier with Middlesbrough.
The 71-year-old has previously managed the likes of Huddersfield Town, Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, QPR and Rotherham United.
Middlesbrough are in desperate need of some wins and there are few better managers to organise a team and grind out results than Warnock at this level.
They made the decision to part company with Tony Pulis over the summer and replace him with Woodgate but that has backfired on them now.
Here is how the Boro fans have reacted on Twitter to news that Woodgate could be replaced in the dugout by Warnock:

Honestly if #Boro sack Woodgate for Warnock, after Gibson and the gang gave the whole spiel about transforming the club in the summer, then they truely have no clue about the direction of the club going forward.

Shows you what a lousy year it has been @Boro when Neil Warnock could be the best Christmas present ever #Boro

Would sooner Pulis came back. #boro #utb

A flyer or a stable whisper? #Boro
Would prefer him as DOF over Woody rather than outright boss otherwise we're back in the same boat come June. https://t.co/0A7IIxo0nS

Doesn't matter who we appoint IF woody is sacked, fans wont be happy, we want exciting football but don't have the players to do it so we play to our strengths which of course the fans don't like, vicious circle #boro

Neil Warnock is a vastly experienced manager with a great Championship record.
