Leeds United must beat Juventus to land £8m transfer target

Leeds United will be basking in the aftermath glow of a near-perfect performance against Middlesbrough yesterday, a performance that resulted in a 4-0 victory and a return to the top of the table for the Whites.

It was as comprehensive a performance as Leeds United fans could have wanted, it was one that had been threatening to be unleashed over recent games. Finally, yesterday everything just clicked and all the tumblers fell into place in a game that saw Middlesbrough dismantled in front of a near 36,000 crowd.

It was a battle, but not as big a battle as the Whites face if they are to pursue the capture of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara in January. Leeds have been linked to Kamara interest by various sources, an interest that places Kamara in the £8million bracket.

That’s high value indeed for a player who only joined the Glasgow giants from Dundee United at the end of January 2019 in a deal that cost Rangers just a £50,000 fee. However, his performances have led to a massive appreciation in his value and drawn attention from the likes of not only Leeds United but also Premier League side Crystal Palace.

If that wasn’t competition enough, now Serie A giants Juventus can be added to the mix according to the website The Boot Room (TBR) who reference The Mail on Sunday (page 125) as their source. Apparently Juve began to track Kamara after his starring role for Finland against Italy in a display that TBR said left Juventus’ scouts “thoroughly impressed.

Tampere-born Kamara came through the youth system at Arsenal, having transferred there from Southend United in 2012. With a star-studded Gunners side ahead of him, Kamara only made the one appearance for the first team, a 60-minute appearance in a 3-0 cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday in late October 2015.

Should Juventus interest in Kamara firm up, then Leeds United fans might want to wave goodbye to any interest that the Whites have in the 24-year-old. When facing such lofty opponents in the transfer market, it would be hard to battle against the money they’d bring to the table.
