Derby County continue to be linked with Major League Soccer star

Derby County continue to be linked with DC United’s Luciano Acosta.

The Rams are an option for the midfield starlet, according to a report by Argentinian News Outlet El Crack Deportivo.

Acosta is a free agent after leaving DC United at the end of their season and is weighing up his next move.

He wants to move to Europe so is biding his time, but is believed to have had an offer from Boca Juniors.

The 25-year-old knows the new Derby player-coach Wayne Rooney from their time at Audi Field together and formed a lethal partnership in the Major League Soccer, hence why rumours of a reunion at Pride Park have arisen.

Acosta was born in Buenos Aires and started his career with his local side Club Comunicaciones before he was snapped up by Boca Juniors as a youngster in 2007.

He made his debut for the Argentinian giants against Newell’s Old Boys in November 2014 and went on to make a further 27 appearances for the Premira Division side.

Acosta had a loan spell at Estudiantes de La Plata before he joined DC United, initially on a loan deal which was made permanent a year later.

He became a key player for the Black and Red and played 137 times altogether for them, scoring 23 goals.

Derby would have to see off plenty of interest from elsewhere to land his signature, but having previously played down the possibility of signing him, these new links of Acosta can be taken with a pinch of salt.
