Everton and Newcastle United set to join Arsenal in pursuit of Nottingham Forest defender

Everton and Newcastle United are set to join Arsenal in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall according to The Mirror.

Worrall spent last season on loan at Rangers but was unable to make a real impact and since his arrival back at the City Ground he has been in impressive form alerting a number of top flight clubs.

He has made 16 appearances in the Championship this season for high-flying Forest and is now a mainstay in the defence for Sabri Lamouchi’s side.

It has been reported that both Everton and Newcastle are sending scouts on a regular basis to spot the potential of Worrall as they both look to add reinforcements in January following a hugely disappointing start to both of their Premier League seasons.

The Toffees have struggled defensively this season and with Kurt Zouma returning to parent club Chelsea in the summer they are in need of further additions.

Newcastle have lost club captain and central defender Jamaal Lascelles to injury and looked defensively suspect against Aston Villa on Monday evening and also require reinforcements in order to steer clear of the relegation zone.

Forest are very keen to retain the defender however and will not make it easy for any of his admirers, particularly in January. It looks as though Lamouchi’s men are going to be in the promotion mix this season and they will not be looking to lose any of their key players in the near future.

With both Premier League sides currently struggling in the top flight it would be unlikely that Worrall would be too enthusiastic on a move and may decide to continue with the East Midlands club until at least the end of the campaign.
