Sheffield Wednesday may loan out midfielder in January

Sheffield Wednesday are considering loaning out midfielder Alex Hunt in January.

The highly-rated youngster could head out for some first team experience, as revealed by Garry Monk in his press conference this week.

Hunt, who is 19 years-old, joined the Owls’ academy at the age of eight and has risen up through the youth ranks of the South Yorkshire side.

He made his first team debut for Wednesday in a League Cup game against Sunderland in August last year.

Wednesday have got a few players out on loan at the moment such as Matt Penney (St Pauli), Connor Kirby (Sheffield Wednesday) and Jack Stobbs (Livingston), and more could follow over the coming months.

Monk has said, as per a report by the Sheffield Star: “We use a lot of the young players for training so we have been able to have a good look at them. As you would expect with any club, some are a bit further ahead in development than others.”

“There’s definitely some potential there. We just have to try and find the right way to help them. Things like sending them out on loan to get experience is a big thing. We have had a variety of young players training with us and I always enjoy that.”

He added: “We then try and decide what is best for their future and how we can develop them even further.”
