Manchester United and Liverpool are now believed to be showing ‘genuine interest’ in Leeds United loanee Ben White according to The Athletic.

We have previously reported interest from top flight clubs for the services of White who has been a revelation at Elland Road since his loan move from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer market.

When the deal was being discussed, Leeds were keen for it to include the option for them to buy White on a permanent deal upon the end of his loan however Brighton were reluctant and refused to do so, however the Yorkshire club continued with the move regardless and it is now easy to see why.

White has been an integral part of the Leeds defence so far this campaign culminating in them having the best defensive record in the division and the youngster has been a huge reason for that.

The defender has only made two first-team appearances for Brighton and spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan with Peterborough United in League One but his step up to the Championship this campaign has been a seamless one.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool possess quality centre backs in the form of Harry Maguire and Virgil Van Dijk but in respect of centre back partners they are both looking to make reinforcements.

White has played every minute of every game so far this season and has attracted plenty of attention from top flight clubs.

With Brighton most likely looking to acquire as much profit as possible should they look to sell him at the end of the season, Leeds would face a huge battle in attempting to lure him to Elland Road with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool ready to swoop.
