Port Vale manager discusses January transfer window plans

Port Vale boss John Askey has said his side will explore the possibility of bringing in new signings in January.

The League Two side may also look to move a couple of players on in order to reduce their squad size and balance the books.

Vale are currently 8th in the table having won and drawn both seven games out of their opening 18 matches this season. They are outside the Play-Off positions on goal difference.

Askey, who has previously managed Macclesfield Town and Shrewsbury Town, took over at Vale Park in February and has managed to steady the ship there after a difficult couple of years for the club.

He has discussed whether his side will sign anyone this winter, as per a report by StokeOnTrent Live: “We are always looking. We are keeping an eye open what players are about because you always want to improve. You need a good squad if you want to achieve something, so if there is anybody we feel can improve us, then we will be looking to try to do something.”

“You have to be sensible as well and you don’t want too big a squad. It might be a case of trying to get one or two out on loan to enable us to bring other people in. So, you are just trying to balance the books and be sensible as well. There might be a little bit of money available but there are other ways to do it as well.”
