Charlton Athletic striker declared fit after “cardiac investigations”

A report from the South London Press has confirmed that Charlton Athletic have cleared striker Macauley Bonne to carry on playing after he was ruled out of Zimbabwe’s international matches through “unforeseen medical grounds”.

Charlton Athletic striker Macauley Bonne missed out on international duty with Zimbabwe after he confirmed that he was out of action through “unforeseen medical grounds”. Now, it has been confirmed that he is fit to continue playing after a cardiac screening.

The striker was forced out of the Zimbabwe squad after the cardiac screening but after the results were analysed and looked at by the Addicks’ medical staff, Bonne has been cleared to continue playing, which will come as good news to all.

The club issued a statement regarding Bonne’s fitness, saying:

“The club’s medical team can confirm that Macauley Bonne underwent some planned cardiac investigations last week following a recent routine cardiac screen.

“The results of these investigations have been discussed with the sports cardiologist and the player will continue to play and train as normal. The club will continue to regularly screen his heart as recommended, as we do with all our players from U15 through to the first team.”

Bonne has been an important player for Lee Bowyer’s side this season, helping ease the pain of Lyle Taylor’s knee injury by hitting the ground running at the start of his time with the club. He has scored five goals in 10 games since coming into the starting 11 due to Taylor’s absence and will now have his workload lifted somewhat with Taylor returning to action soon.
