Charlton Athletic recall young midfielder amid injury crisis

Ebbsfleet United have confirmed on their official club website that loaned in midfielder Albie Morgan has been recalled by parent club Charlton Athletic, as they continue to deal with an ongoing injury crisis at The Valley.

Charlton Athletic have had bad luck over the course of the early months of the season when it comes to injuries. Star man Lyle Taylor has been on the sidelines for some time now, and the injury problems in Lee Bowyer’s midfield department have started to add up as well.

Playmaker Jonny Williams is out on the sidelines, while Jake Forster-Caskey – who has been filling in at left-back during the ongoing injury problems – has also been ruled out. Darren Pratley is also suspended for this weekend’s tie against Cardiff City so the Addicks have opted to recall one of their youngsters from a loan spell in the National League.

Albie Morgan has returned to The Valley to be available for selection when needed, coming back from his loan spell with Ebbsfleet United shortly after extending his loan spell with the club to the end of 2019.

Speaking about the early departure of Morgan, Ebbsfleet boss Kevin Watson said:

“Albie has thoroughly enjoyed his time with us and said he’d come back in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself or Charlton let him out again but it’s out of our hands and we thank Charlton for all they’ve done in letting us get him in on loan in the first place.”
