Former Leeds United defender believes on-loan star won’t be recalled in January

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills believes that on-loan star Ben White won’t be recalled in January by Brighton & Hove Albion according to Football Insider.

White has hugely impressed in his loan stint at Elland Road, however there is a clause in his deal which could allow the Premier League side to recall him in January.

The centre back has formed a good partnership with Liam Cooper at the heart of defence and has been a mainstay in the side for Marco Bielsa since his move in the summer transfer window.

Although there has been speculation regarding a clause in his deal, Mills believes it would come as a huge surprise should the Seagulls decide to recall him.

“It’s unlikely, often clubs say you’ve got him for the season and that’s it, simple as that, unless it’s by a mutual agreement, that they agree to rip it up and start again,” Mills said. “I think it’s unlikely that they’ll lose Ben White, I think he’s been absolutely superb.”

Leeds currently have the best defensive record in the division having only conceded nine goals in their 16 Championship games so far and this has been largely down to the impressive performances of White.

He has forged a good understanding with both Cooper and Gaetano Berardi who has had to deputise for Cooper on occasions with him having suffered with injury throughout the course of the campaign.

It would come as an almighty blow to Leeds’ chances of promotion should they lose one of their highly influential figures but it does seem unlikely at this stage unless Brighton have an influx of injury or suspension problems as it would be extremely beneficial for White to be gaining regular first team football for the entirety of the season.
