Premier League side set to offer Stoke City star a lifeline

Premier League side Norwich City are set to offer Jack Butland a chance to revive his career in the top flight, according to Stoke-On-Trent Live.

Despite starting the last two game for the Potters, the former England international’s career has gone rather downhill since he and Stoke were relegated from the Premier League, and things have never really been the same for the 26-year-old.

Many people have questioned his commitment at Stoke, saying he was trying to force his way out of the club. Everyone expected him to move on in the Summer, but a move never went through, despite strong interest from recently promoted Aston Villa.

Butland struggled at the start of the season, and several mistakes saw him dropped from the Stoke City starting XI.

Speaking in the club’s matchday programme back in September, Butland wrote: “Regardless of what people have been saying about me, since the very first day of pre-season I have given absolutely everything for the club – just as I always have done and always will.

“You can ask anyone at the club what I have been doing. I don’t deserve what has happened to me. I didn’t mean to make the mistakes I have. I feel like I will get hit by lightening every time I step outside at the minute.”

But The Sun (via Stoke-On-Trent Live) have reported that Norwich City would be prepared to bring Jack Butland to Carrow Road if Stoke are willing to drop their asking price to £15 million.

Butland was very much in the England picture despite Stoke City’s relegation two years ago, and was selected for the England World Cup squad back in 2018, but has not been involved with the national side since.
