Wolverhampton Wanderers to rival Manchester United for Reading striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing to rival Manchester United for Reading striker Danny Loader according to the Birmingham Mail.

Wolves were close to signing Loader in the summer transfer window before the Royals increased their asking price for the youngster at the last minute.

The 19-year-old is attracting interest from a host of top flight clubs due to his impressive performances in the Championship for the London side.

Despite his relative inexperience at first-team level, his potential for the future is making him an attractive option for Premier League clubs.

Loader’s contract is due to expire in the summer and it is now expected that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will make another play for the teenager who has already expressed his desire to reach the highest level.

Speaking shortly after his move to Wolves fell through in August, Loader said: “Everyone knows a Premier League club tried to sign me in the transfer window, but it wasn’t to be.”

“I’m very ambitious, my dream is to play on the biggest stage and you never know when these opportunities will come around again.”

However, the Midlands side do face competition for the signature of Loader with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side also eyeing a swoop for the forward.

Solskjaer is believed to want to recruit young, hungry English players to embed within his squad and Loader would be a good option for the coming years.

Reading will have been thankful to have retained Loader in the summer but they face a real battle on their hands to do so throughout the January transfer window.
