Former England international striker Darren Bent has heaped praise on Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich and backed him to be a success in the Premier League according to an interview with Football Insider.

Bent revealed he was a huge admirer of Klich and believes the 29-year-old who has recently signed a new deal with the club could be a big hit should Leeds get promoted to the top flight.

His new contract is believed to include a huge pay rise and this only emphasises the trust and faith that Marco Bielsa has in the Polish international.

The former Sunderland man did make a cheeky dig that Klich needed to work on his penalty technique as he recalled his awful spot-kick during the 1-1 draw with Derby at the end of September.

When asked for his opinion on Klich and his new contract, Bent said: “Yeah it’s a good sign for him, he has done well for him, always seems to score important goals.”

“Was it him who missed that penalty the other week? That dreadful penalty, if he can work on his penalty technique… I like him to be fair, covers a lot of ground, he works hard, gets himself in good positions, he is one of their leaders.”

“Yeah I think he could make the step up to the Premier League, there’s several in their squad who can, and hopefully for Leeds, after going really really close last season, this is the year.”

Bent is clearly a fan of Klich and his importance to the Leeds team and it is not difficult to see why as he makes the midfield tick for the Whites and always seems to impress in any match he plays.
