Stoke City midfielder set for move to Europa League side

Stoke City midfielder Badou Ndiaye is being linked with a move away from the club, with Turkish League side Trabzonspor the favourites to sign the 29-year-old.

When Michael O’Neil arrived at Stoke City last week, he stated that he felt as though the squad was too big, and that he would be offloading several players in January.

Ndiaye is bound to be one of those players who is going to leave, and Trabzonspor, who are currently in the Europa League group stage, are rumoured to be interested in taking the Senegalese international on loan until the end of the season.

Stoke-On-Trent Live have reported that the Turkish club “are negotiating a €500,000 rental fee for the second half of the season although the man himself wants €1.5m.”

Ndiaye has featured in 10 of Stoke City’s Sky Bet Championship games this season, but has struggled to make any real impact on the side.

It is a shame for the Potters, because Ndiaye is an extremely experienced midfielder. He arrived at the club back in January 2018, when Stoke were still a top-flight club.

He joined for a fee of £14 million from Turkish side Galatasary, but was unable to help Stoke stay in the Premier League and they were consequently relegated later that year.

The 29-year-old was selected for the Senegal World Cup squad that year, but the West African country were eliminated in the group stages.

Ndiaye did not feature for Stoke in the second tier last season, and was instead loaned out back to former club Galatasary, for whom he played 23 games for.
