West Brom forward hoping to put himself “in the shop window” during Spanish loan spell

West Brom’s loaned out forward Oliver Burke has said that he is hoping to put himself in the shop window during his spell out on loan in Spain with Alaves.

Oliver Burke joined Spanish side Alaves on loan earlier this summer in search of more first-team football with game time looking limited at the Hawthorns, even with the arrival of a new manager in the form of Slaven Bilic.

So far with Alaves, Burke has played nine times, with seven of those coming off the bench, He has provided one assist in the process and the club currently sit in 14th place in the La Liga table. Now, Burke has been speaking about his time in Spain, saying:

“I’m learning a lot each day and the coaching staff speak English very well,” he said to BBC Sport.

“I’m having a lot of video meetings and they talk to me one-on-one. It’s really nice to feel as though somebody wants to help you and get the very best out of you. I’m really happy there and I’m developing as much as I can.”

Burke went on to discuss his current situation back with parent club West Brom, admitting that he is in a difficult position with the Baggies and that he is hoping that he can put himself in the shop window with some strong performances on loan with Alaves.

“The situation at West Brom is very difficult for me right now because I’ve been there so long but I’ve not actually played many games for them. You almost feel like you’re not a part of that team because I’ve been to other clubs and been on loan.

“It can be difficult but the lads are great when I go back and it’s a good environment to be in. For me I have to just focus on this loan I’m in now and take it all in.

“Hopefully good things come from me going on loan and getting game time and it puts me in the shop window again.”
