Peterborough United chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has moved to dismiss any rumours that star duo Marcus Maddison and Ivan Toney are on their way to Championship side Derby County amid reported interest in the pair.
In the run up to the January transfer window, it is hardly rare for Peterborough United’s star players to be linked with a move to the Championship. The Posh conveyer belt of talent seems to bring up some impressive players who have made the step up to the Championship and Premier League in the past, with the likes of Jack Marriott and Britt Assombalonga earning moves up the leagues just to name two.
It has recently been claimed that striker Ivan Toney and playmaker Marcus Maddison could be making moves away from the club amid their continued strong form in the first half of this season and now, once again, chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has moved to dismiss the rumours.
MacAnthony was asked by a fan on Twitter if there was any truth in speculation claiming that the pair had been at the Rams’ training ground today, to which MacAnthony replied shooting down the “nonsense rumours”.
Don’t be daft. Just rumour nonsense. https://t.co/eZN54wv6Qp

Maddison and Toney have been in electric form so far this season and they have played a big role in helping the Posh to 3rd place in the League One table. Maddison has notched 10 goals and provided six assists across all competitions with Toney netting 12 goals and laying on three assists in 17 league games.
