Leeds United boss holds ‘crunch talks’ with key player

Leeds United boss Marco Bielsa has held ‘crunch talks’ with key player Tyler Roberts surrounding his inconsistent form according to Football Insider.

It is believed that the Argentine has called for Roberts to improve his form for Leeds despite having played a vital part of their most recent two victories against QPR and and Blackburn Rovers before the international break.

Roberts scored the opening goal against Rangers and subsequently played 90 minutes against Rovers and has been an important part of the side since his return from injury.

The 20-year-old has been described as a ‘rare talent’ by Bielsa but the manager has held a private meeting with Roberts explaining to him he needs to be more consistent and add regular goals to his game to nail down a regular starting spot in the starting XI.

Despite making 31 appearances last season, he only scored three goals and provided six assists and considering the creativity within the Leeds side there is certainly some truth in Bielsa’s words.

Before his most recent two starts for the Whites, Roberts was used as more of an impact player and Bielsa is looking for more consistency in games from the youngster.

Roberts has endured a frustrating time in his career at Leeds due to injuries since his arrival from West Brom in January 2018 for a fee rising to £4million.

With Eddie Nketiah still suffering from an abdominal injury and the inconsistent form of some of the Leeds attackers, it would be an ideal time for Roberts to step up and look to improve his game as they look to continue their push for promotion this season.
