Stoke City midfielder may be handed an escape route this winter

Stoke City are expected to sell midfielder Badou N’Diaye in the January transfer window.

The Potters are aiming to balance the books this winter, as per a report by StokeOnTrent Live.

The 29-year-old was dropped to the bench by new Stoke boss Michael O’Neill in his first game in charge against Barnsley last weekend.

N’Diaye has been linked with a return to the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray and Trabzonspor over recent weeks.

The Senegal international spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and made 33 appearances in all competitions, helping Fatih Terim’s side win the league title.

He returned to the Bet365 Stadium over the summer and has played for them in the Championship so far in this campaign. However, he hasn’t been able to help them climb up the league table.

N’Diaye joined Stoke in January 2018 from Galatasaray for a fee of £14 million and they were relegated from the Premier League during his first season at the club.

He started his career in his native country with Diambars before moving to Norway in 2013 to join FK Bodø/Glimt. He became a key player for the Eliteserien outfit and spent two years before switching to Turkey.

N’Diaye had a spell at Osmanlıspor prior to his first move to Galatasaray. His time in England with Stoke hasn’t worked out and a switch in January is now on the horizon for him.
