Leeds United targeting move for in-form Rangers midfielder

Leeds United are interested in Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

Steven Gerrard’s side are bracing themselves for moves for him in the upcoming January transfer window, according to a report by Football Insider.

Kamara, who is 24 years-old, has made an impressive start to the season for the Scottish Premiership giants, making 20 appearances in all competitions.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is in the hunt for potential reinforcements to his squad this winter and sees Kamara as someone who would bolster his midfield options.

The tough-tackling central midfielder started his career in his native Finland with spells as a youngster at OT-77 and EPS before moving to England in 2011 to join Southend United.

Kamara, who has now made 14 caps for Finland, was spotted by Arsenal after a year with the Shrimpers and moved to the Gunners in 2012.

He played his first and only senior appearance under Arsene Wegner in October 2015 in a League Cup game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Kamara was loaned back out to Southend and then Colchester United to gain some first team experience before he left the Emirates Stadium in 2017 on a permanent deal to join Dundee.

He spent a season-and-a-half at Dens Park and established himself as one of the best midfielders in Scotland.

There were many clubs chasing him in January but it was Rangers who won the race for his signature. He has since become a key player for Gerrard’s side but they will face a battle to hold onto him with Leeds eyeing a swoop.
